essay contest

Each year the VFLA sponsors a contest contest, available to students of any age whose teacher is a VFLA member. We choose a different theme each year; the 2018 theme was "Peace is the language we must speak." (Pope Francis)

One winner will be announced in each of the following categories for each language represented in the contest: novice, intermediate, pre-advanced, advanced/native. Winners receive a small cash prize and a certificate, and are invited to a reception at the State House in late spring at which the Governor reads a proclamation, and students have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Governor and any members of the state legislature in attendance.
